Since 2002 we have been providing care to patients with varying health concerns. Commonly treated health conditions include:
Perimenopause is a natural transitional phase that marks the lead-up to menopause. It typically begins in a woman's 40s, though it can start earlier, and may last several years. This period is characterized by fluctuations in hormone levels, particularly estrogen and progesterone, which can lead to a variety of physical and emotional symptoms.
From a naturopathic perspective, the goal is to support the body in achieving balance and easing the transition, while addressing underlying factors contributing to symptoms.
Common symptoms of perimenenopause:
The Naturopathc functional medicine, approach focuses on individualized, holistic care to support the body’s natural processes, alleviate symptoms, and optimize overall health during this transition.
From a Naturopathic perspective gut health is the foundation of well being. Beyond digestion, your gut is deeply connected to your immune system, hormonal balance, mental clarity, and energy levels. A healthy gut means your body can absorb nutrients, eliminate waste efficiently, and maintain balance in all its systems.
When the gut is out of balance, whether from stress, diet and lifestyle choices, medications, environmental toxins, t can lead to symptoms like bloating, fatigue, brain fog, skin issues, or even emotional shifts like anxiety. These are signals that your body needs support.
Through Naturopathic care and functional medicine testing, we can identify and address the root causes of gut imbalance. Using personalized nutrition, herbal medicine, supplementation, lifestyle adjustments and other natural medicinals, we can help restore your gut to a state of balance and vitality. Healing the gut often transforms the way you feel, bringing a renewed sense of health and well-being.
Hormones govern overall vitality. Treating a hormonal imbalance involves a throrough assessment which includes the testing of blood and urine to detect hormonal fluctuations and hormone metabolism over an extended period of time. This provides a clearer picture of the reasons behind your symptoms.
Some common signs of hormonal imbalance:
A Naturopathic protocol that incorporates herbal, nutritional, Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture along with lifestyle changes will help your body regain a better hormonal balance and a renewed sense of vitality.
Our thyroid is the master gland of your metabolism and thyroid hormone is active in almost every cell of your body. An underactive thyroid (hypothyroid), an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroid) or a thyroid that is being attacked by your own immune system (Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Grave’s disease) can impair your overall body’s functioning and leave you feeling unwell.
Common signs of a poorly functioning thyroid:
The conventional approach commonly uses TSH in screening for thyroid, if this is normal no further testing is done. However, many patients with a “normal” TSH still present with symptoms and may require more comprehensive thyroid testing. Dr. Bizios will perform a comprehensive thyroid panel, and screen for nutritional deficiencies related to thyroid health. A unique combination of herbs, vitamins, minerals and nutrition will help correct any imbalances.
The adrenal gland makes hormones like cortisol that help your body respond to stress. However, chronic stress puts your adrenals in to overdrive and in time their ability to make hormones becomes impaired, the result is adrenal dysfunction or "adenal fatigue".
Some common signs of adrenal fatigue:
A naturopathic assessment will be performed in addition to testing of the blood and urine to assess adrenal function and formulate a treatment plan to restore your adrenal health. Acupuncture, supplementation and diet modication are often helpful in improving resilience and adrenal stress.
SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) SIFO (Small Intestinal Fungal Overgrowth)
SIBO/SIFO hav become more and more prevalent in our patient population. SIBO/SIFO is the result of a bacterial or fungal overgrowth that occurs when levels of commensal bacteria (from the mouth, small or large intestine) increase in the small intestine. This overgrowth impacts overall digestion and nutrient absorption and is often the underlying cause of IBS. SIBO can be measured by specialized breath tests that measure gases produced when carbohydrates are digested or fermented by intestinal bacteria. Elevated levels of these gases indicate a possible SIBO etiology.
Common symptoms of SIBO/SIFO include the following:
SIBO/SIFO may be present when you experience any of the following; a worsening of digestive symptoms with probiotics/prebiotics, constipation that is made worse with fiber, no improvement with a gluten-free diet, a chronic iron or B12 deficiency, IBS that develops suddenly after the stomach flu, antibiotic therapy that improves overall digestive symptoms, long-term reflux medications (proton pump inhibitors), gallbladder and bile problems.
Naturopathic treatment can be very successful. Herbal medicine, detoxification, supplementation, enzyme therapy and diet modification are commonly used.
Roughly 1 in 6 couples experience infertility, a number which has doubled since the 1980’s. Nutrient deficiencies caused by poor dietary habits, food and environmental chemical exposure, stress, inactivity, advanced parental age and unhealthy lifestyles are contributing to this statistic.
We help future parents optimize their health prior to conception by offering a Fertility Enhancement Program to support a healthier start to a new life.
Fertility Enhancement Program
On average, it takes 100 days for an egg to mature and for sperm to develop, for this reason, prenatal care should begin closer to 4 months prior to conception. Once egg and sperm come together, a permanent blueprint of baby is formed. This blueprint mirrors the overall health, nutrient status and toxic load of the egg and sperm over the past 100 days. Naturopathic care takes advantage of this window and aims to support the growth and development of healthier embryos that grow in to healthier babies.
